For those who are into aquascaping, the best location to refill CO2 and purchase CO2 cylinder is:
Syarikat City Corporation,
30, Jalan 13/108C,
Taman Sungai Besi,
57100 Kuala Lumpur.
Tel: 03-79836366 or 03-79833214
Fax: 03-79813344
The company opens at 9am daily (except Sunday). Please take note that they work half day on Saturday.
The price is lower than any of the local fish shops. The waiting period is also faster than any of the fish shops as you get the refill on the spot. No waiting period of a few hours or even days.
Recently I have found out that the cost of refilling CO2 has increased. It used to be RM10 for any sizes of CO2 cylinders but that's no longer the case now. Here's the CO2 refill price list:
5 lbs - RM12
10 lbs - RM22
The price of CO2 cylinder has gone up too. It used to be RM120 for 5 lbs CO2 cylinder and RM150 for 10 lbs CO2 cylinder if I am not mistaken. The current price list of CO2 cylinder with gas is:
5 lbs - RM140
10 lbs - RM160

Thanks a lot for this information!
It is so much cheaper!!
I bought Rm 270 for 5 lbs CO2 cylinder, from a Subang Jaya aquarium shop.
Felt like cheated....
Thanks Anyway!
So what is the price for CO2 cylinder and refill at the shop that been mentioned? As im understand, the price that been mentioned above is a comparison price between previous and current price in the market.
Sorry Fahmy. I don't understand your question. The prices of Syarikat City Corp as of last September for CO2 cylinder and refill have all been mentioned above.
Fahmy, if you're asking about the prices of CO2 cylinder and refill in LFS (local fish shops), I have no idea. It will cost you at least RM200 for a CO2 cylinder regardless of lbs. Refill may cost you RM30-RM50 in LFS if I remember correctly based on my last enquiry. The prices may have gone up again. For the exact amount, you have to find out yourself. I dare to bet that you won't get any good deal from LFS.
By the way, I don't work for Syarikat City Corp
im sorry behalf of fahmy. we thought that was the price referred from LFS. tyvm for ur feedback. i still hv a few to ask if you dnt mind. im aware tht syarikat city is nt a LFS, so it will only provide me with only the cylinder if im right. so i still need to equip myself with some of other apparatus. how much will it cost fr me to hv a fully system of CO2 by having this cylinder? and do hv have any suggestion where shld i get it from? thank you in advance:) we are newbie and jst trying to start up our advanture.hehe
Yes, You can only purchase the CO2 cylinder at Syarikat City Corp. You still need a solenoid (to automatically turn off/on the CO2), a timer (to automatically provide power supply to solenoid by setting the time), check valves (to prevent water from flowing into solenoid damaging it. you need 2 units - add one between solenoid and bubble counter and add another between bubble counter and diffuser), diffuser (for separating the CO2 into small bubbles into the tank), bubble counter (to count the number of bubble per second to avoid over supplying of CO2) and air tube (for connecting diffuser to the solenoid aka for CO2 to flow into the tank). That's all.
Solenoid - around RM250 or more (not sure of the market price). Try purchasing at Natural Aquatics in Subang Jaya. You can google for the address.
diffuser - it's like a car. The price range varies. Cheapest one should be around RM10 or more if I remember correctly. Try purchasing at Natural Aquatics in Subang Jaya, Fish Depot or 88 Pets Mart.
check valve - Price range varies too. Plastic ones are less reliable but having 2 valves are pretty safe. Plastic one I think is RM5 each. Try purchasing at Natural Aquatics in Subang Jaya, Fish Depot or 88 Pets Mart.
bubble counter - Price should be around RM10. Don't need any fancy one. The uglier one looks like a mini jam bottle is easier to fix. Try purchasing at Natural Aquatics in Subang Jaya or Fish Depot.
timer - Price RM18 - RM30. You can get from Giant/Tesco or any DIY shop. Don't buy this at LFS coz expensive.
air tube - Price depends on the length you need. Should not cost you beyond RM10. Can buy at any LFS.
I cannot guarantee the prices accuracy and whether the shops recommended have the best price as the price may be different from when I purchased them, but those are the usual shops I hunt for those stuff. Check for the best price before purchasing unless you don't care.
By the way, you don't need to purchase high end CO2 related products from ADA unless you're freaking rich. Most of the products from Taiwan/China/Singapore/Malaysia are good enough to last you for years, unless you are very unlucky or you damage the solenoid by letting water flowing to the solenoid.
thank you very much. i found it very useful. u helped a lot. btw keep posting ;)
